Vaccines Were Developed Safely

The NHS informs us that the COVID-19 Vaccines were developed having met strict standards of safety, quality and effectiveness set out by the independent Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Any coronavirus vaccine that is approved must go through all the clinical trials and safety checks all other licensed medicines go through.

The MHRA follows international standards of safety.

The long timescales usually associated with vaccine development have been avoided due to unprecedented global scientific community collaboration, parallel development pathways and much greater availability of funding.

People from numerous nationalities and all walks of life have been part of the COVID-19 vaccine trials, including white, black, Asian and mixed minority ethnic groups.

COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects

The MHRA informs us that like all vaccines, the COVID-19 Vaccine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Most side effects are mild or moderate and go away within a few days of appearing.

Millions of people have been administered a vaccine and reports of serious side effects, such as allergic reactions or clotting problems, have been very rare.

The small risk of side effects outweighs the risks of long-term complications or death from COVID-19.

COVID-19 Vaccine Ingredients Clarification

There are no pork or other animal products in the current available vaccines.

The Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine contains ethanol at an amount that is less than what is found in natural foods or bread.  Muslim scholars have deemed this vaccine to be permissible as the level of alcohol is negligible.

Myths About The Vaccines

The vaccine:

Will not alter your DNA.

Will not give you coronavirus.

Will not cause infertility.

Do not contain any chips or trackers for surveillance.

COVID-19 vaccines are very effective

The vaccine significantly reduces the chance of suffering from COVID-19 and the severity of symptoms should you develop the infection.

Our leading scientists and medical experts recommend vaccination because of the robust evidence that it works.

However, it is not 100% protective so we need to continue good hand hygiene, mask wearing and social distancing until most of the population have had the vaccine.

Protecting Others

Having the COVID-19 vaccine will protect you, your family, friends and community.

Over 65s are over 3 times more likely to die if they get COVID. Think about how you will feel if you do not get vaccinated and suffer from it or end up giving someone COVID-19.

Getting Back to Normal

Having the COVID-19 vaccine will help get our lives back to normal.

By making sure as many people as possible have high levels of immunity we can move towards normality again.

Myths About COVID-19

Myth: ‘COVID-19 is no worse than the flu’

Truth:  You are 10 times more likely to die from COVID infection than the flu and are also more likely to be unwell for 30 days or more.

Myth: ‘We should just wait for herd immunity.’

Truth: This would lead to a disastrous amount of deaths.

Your Vaccination Is Vital:

You are key to achieving community immunity because we need about 80% coverage. You have a very important part to play in the national effort – normality can only return for you and others, with your vaccination.
